From the Hack: With Covid restrictions eased further, the curlers were happy to be back to two sweepers and skips sweeping…a game changer. It was a big night for two rookie skips competing for the Foodland trophy. Congratulations to Team McKay on a well played game against the session winner, Team Verstegen. Right down to the last rock thrown, it was an exciting game that had the fans on their feet. They move on to next week’s Inter League Challenge. A fun consolation game on Sheet 2 was decided by an incredible take out by Judith to seal the deal.

Thanks to Sim Spry, owner of Foodland, for his continued support to Ladies Curling and to our community.

From the Hack: Generally speaking, there is a tendency to celebrate the shot- making of the vice and skip, because they are the last players who make the shots that determine how points will be scored each end. However, the fact remains that the front end of each team have very important roles to play. They are the ones who set up the stones to enable the vices and skips to raise or hide behind, in order to score points. So, this week, let’s send out kudos to the front end players; Gail and Marty for Team Walker, Sandy and Ann for Team Coulter, Jim and Joan for Team Bell, Linda and Barb for Team McDougall, and Mary and Karen for Team Gallaugher, as well as Paul and Angelina, our super-spares!

On Wednesday, Marian, Karen, Mary and Sandy, of Team Gallaugher, were on the broom every shot, taking down the giants, Team Walker. A well deserved win for them! Good curling everyone!
