Cybergnomes FRC team begins competition season
As the Cybergnomes Vex Team and the Cybergirls wind down their season, the Cybergnomes FRC Team 2013 ramp up for competition.
On Jan. 8, First Robotics released this year’s game, Rapid React. The “Game” involves loading cargo balls into one of two round “Hubs” using a 100-pound robot that the team designs and builds. The Gnomes have been in the shop the last two and a half months learning skills to help them design, build and program a robot that will complete these tasks.
Now, those months of hard work will be put to the test when the Gnomes head to York University for their first event on March 26th.
Last year saw FIRST move all activities online and the team is so excited to be going back to in person competition for 2022. The District events have been scaled back to one day and the number of teams and matches have been scaled back for each event.
Rubber met the mat in preparation for their upcoming event. The builders and the programmers along with their mentors have developed a fast robot that can shoot “cargo” balls and hang. This is an amazing feat for our small, young team.
The competition season will see the team enter events at York University, Nippising University and Provincial Championships in Mississauga. The Team wants to thank all their sponsors as they were quick to support the team when we started our build this year.
