Youth Centre adopts new youth-driven committee structure

 In News

Beginning at the new term of council the Clearview Youth Centre will be adopting a new youth-driven approach to its committee.

A new Youth Advisory Committee will take the place of the existing committee, which was established in 2016 to get the new youth centre up and running.

Of the new five-member committee, three will be youth members between the ages of 14-18, serving a two-year term, supported by one adult representative and one council representative, serving a four-year term.

The idea is to seek input, generate ideas and opportunities for youth to acquire leadership skills through meaningful engagement in the community, focussing on how to further connect and involve youth in the community.

The Clearview Youth Centre aims to take a more youth-driven focus on matters pertaining to youth and provide ideas that will assist in offering viable programming at the township’s Youth Centre and across Clearview Township.

Youth members will be eligible to receive high school volunteer hours/ credit for their committee work.

Recruitment for the committee will begin after the municipal election, on October 24.
