Police seize fentanyl, cocaine and cash from Collingwood residence

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Members of the Collingwood Detachment Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a Collingwood residence and seized fentanyl, cocaine and a large quantity of cash early this morning. A have charged four people in connection to a drug trafficking investigation in Collingwood.

In November 2022, the Collingwood CSCU commenced an investigation into cocaine and fentanyl trafficking in Collingwood. On January 11, 2023, a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant was executed at a residence in Collingwood with assistance from members of the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) Central Region Canine (K-9) and uniform members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP. Officers seized over $10,000 in cash as well as a large quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and other controlled substances worth an estimated street value of over $10,000.

The investigation revealed the accused was at large on bail for two previous drug trafficking investigations and when arrested he was found to be in violation of his bail conditions.  

Sheldon Wynter, 38 years of age, of Etobicoke, has been charged with:

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

·      Possession of proceeds of crime

·      Fail to comply with a Release order  

The accused has been held in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
