Cyclists travelling along County Road 9 in the New Lowell area will soon be able to enjoy a colourful new installation, courtesy of the federal government. In a project to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Cycle Simcoe, the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario has funded 17 new trail hubs each consisting of a bench, bike rack and repair station, all decorated by artists of the Orillia and District Arts Council. One hub will be located in each of Simcoe County’s 16 member municipalities, with the 17th located at the Simcoe County Museum in Midhurst. Cycle Simcoe is an initiative of the County of Simcoe focused on building up cycling infrastructure and promoting the area as a premier cycling tourism destination. The group oversees more than 1,000 kilometres of road cycling routes, 320 kilometres of trails and 21 outdoor repair stations.
