CORNELISSE, Cory

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce that Cory died at Sunset Manor Long Term Care, Collingwood on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 at the age of 79.
Cory Cornelisse, of Stayner, was the beloved husband of Maria for 59 years. Loving father of Sharon (Marcel), Terry (Lila), and Linda (Andy). Cherished grandfather of Peter (Christina), Lindsay (Matt), Perry (Tamara), Justin (Jenn), Michelle (Chris), Shaney, Joy, Faith-Anne, Ben and Claire. Treasured great-grandfather of Jacob, Avry, Isaac, Sophia, Sydney, Jack, Elise, Freya, Ava, Emily, Lilly, Casey, Brooklyn, Janelle and Remy. Dear brother of Adrian (Tina), Herb (Heidi), John (Carrie), Bill (late Sue), Ron (Kathryn) and brother-in-law of Wilhemina (late George), Lena (Wayne), Klaas (Margie), Mary (Casey), late Len (Gerrie), Elizabeth (Rob), Harry (Marlene), Lucy (Mike) and Rob (Louise). Lovingly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Cory was also predeceased by his parents Case and Johanna Cornelisse and by Maria’s parents Leendert and Margie Noordegraaf.
Born in the Netherlands, Cory immigrated to Canada with his family when he was a young boy. He loved keeping busy: fixing, building, woodcarving, gardening, camping, feeding the critters or simply spending time with friends and family. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a big kid at heart. He loved the Lord and was always the first to lend a hand, whether to friends, family or a stranger. Cory was able to fulfill his dreams. He had a successful career as a heavy equipment mechanic and volunteered all while having a working farm. He moved to the cottage with the love of his life Maria, building their own home on their little piece of heaven, Hamer Lake in MacTier. In retirement he and Maria were blessed with the ability to travel North America for a year in an RV, meeting new friends and making amazing memories. He will be missed by many, but our memories will last forever.
Friends are invited to join the family at the Jubilee Presbyterian Church, 7320 Highway 26, Stayner for visitation on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 from 10 a.m. for the memorial service at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Cory to the County of Simcoe – Sunset Manor for the purchase of a new bus or to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation for Campbell House Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
