ROWBOTHAM, Barry – Barry passed away peacefully at Brightshore Hospital in Meaford on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024 at the age of 81. Born on March 28, 1942, Barry was the son of the late Carl and (Ruth) Evelyn Rowbotham of Dunedin. Barry will be deeply missed by his wife, Patt Rowbotham; his daughters Cheryl, Victoria (Lawrence), Lisa (Mark), son in law Vern Friest, and stepdaughters Wendy and Michelle Young; 16 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren; sisters Gwen Lesslie and Ruth (Ron Bailey); brothers Blair (Cherry), Jack (Brenda) and sister-in-law Elaine as well as his long-time caregiver/niece Ruth Kitchen and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by daughter Lynn Friest, two granddaughters, step daughter Judy Martin; brothers Gordon and Harold, and brother-in-law Bert Lesslie. He stayed most of his earlier years in the Simcoe County area working on various farms or driving for a living; after which he moved to Powassan in North Central Ontario for approximately 25 years, before returning to Collingwood – the past few months have been spent at People Care Meaford in Grey County with his wife Patt. Barry loved to drive and when he wasn’t working, he could often be found off on a road trip either just for the afternoon, camping or heading out west. He loved being outdoors – hunting, cutting firewood and harvesting maple syrup. He also liked hanging out with friends, socializing with family and playing cards. Cremation has taken place. There will be no formal service at this time. Barry will remain at Fawcett Funeral Home until his wife Patt joins him for a future graveside burial.
