Antonella Coluccio’s lemon butter cookies were declared the first place winner of the Creemore Farmers’ Market’s Sweet Treats Baking contest held at the Feb. 10 winter market.

“We appreciate the efforts that went into making your recipes and subjecting them to our taste testing,” said market manager Peta Christen. “We had a great turnout over the course of the morning.”

Organizers thank all participants who submitted in the donuts, loaves and squares categories. That all received prizes donated by The Creemore Echo Newsstand, The Creemore Village Pharmacy, Bank Cafe, YF Patissier Chocolatier, The Creemore Coffee Company, Creemore 100 Mile Store and Creemore Bakery.

In January, Erin Hanna was the winner of the bread making contest with a sourdough loaf. She received the top prize of a training session with Lauren Hambleton from Red Hen Artisanale.

Other bakers received prizes donated by the community.

At the next market on March 9 vendors will be offering samples of their products during a Flavourful Foods event.

During the first week of March, online applications will open to makers, bakers, and growers interested in being vendors at the spring markets on March 30 and April 13, the last of the indoor markets.
