The good, the bad, and the Coyote Ugly

Game 2 saw the Yotes in the retro jerseys once again and honouring a couple of former Chiefs who were unable to make the Game 6 weeks back when about six or seven of their former teammates performed the puck-drop. Ron MacDonald and Mark Hannon gave the boys a very inspirational speech as well before the game a la Herb Brooks. It must have worked because they were finally able to solve the Daniel Dekoning puzzle. The Minto goalie, with 55 games of OHL experience behind him, had stymied Creemore the game previous.

“We were able to get six pucks by him tonight,” said GM Tom Macham “that felt good.”

Final score was Creemore 6 and Minto 2.

Scoring for Creemore was JD Falconer with a pair plus an assist, singles by Anthony Novielli and Owen King. Adam Logozzo with two points and the game winner came off the stick of Jacob Vander Zaag for his third tally of the playoffs.

Brendan Macham and Mason Kameka shared the goaltending duties with Kameka being the goalie of record.

The big news of the night however took place between periods as local hockey player Hayden Oster hit the middle hole not once but twice during the “shoot the puck” contest.

“Nobody had done it in three years and here Hayden does it in back to back shots,” said Macham. “We will be presenting him with some gifts at our next home game.”

50/50 winner: Grayson Vigneux – $530.

Attendance: 375

Game 3 in Minto on a blustery Sunday afternoon March 10 saw what can only be described as a terrible effort from the Creemore team.

“It was like we had time warped back to three years ago when we were just starting out,” says Macham. “It was hard to watch.”

Final score was Minto 10 and Creemore 2.

“You just have to forget it even happened and hit the reset button,” said Macham. “They were ready to play and we weren’t.”

Game 4 goes this Friday night in Palmerston with Game 5 back in Creemore with the usual puck-drop time of 7:30 p.m.

“We will have some players back from suspension and injury for this weekend, which should help,” said Macham.

Hogback Road will be performing in the booster club after the game.

See you all at the rink.
