SHIELDS, John Walter “Jack” – Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Collingwood on May 13, 1952, a son of the late Harold and Louisa (L.C.) Shields. Beloved husband of Sue Shields for 18 years. Jack was the much-loved father of Lindsay (Matt) Follings and James Shields, and stepfather of Jen (Derek) Eagles and Chris (Sylvie) Rawn. Proud grandpa of Kaden, Ava, Carson, Abby, Cadence and Maddy. He will be missed by his sisters Audrey (Don) Coukell and Marjorie (Joe) Kryszak, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jack’s love for his family, the ‘Glen’, the farm, dogs, and his passion for horses, cars and motorcycles were his life. He had a long and successful career as a truck driver and accumulated over 1 million safe driving miles on the road. He was a strong and loyal friend to many, and he will be deeply missed. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Creemore on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with reflections at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle.
