BIA kicks off summer with community celebration
Creemore will welcome the summer season with a solstice party on Friday, June 21, an evening of live music, dancing, and dining.
The bash is presented by the Creemore BIA as a way of showcasing the village and celebrating community.
“This is a community gathering and a celebration of the longest day of the year,” said BIA president Nancy Johnston. “Meet your neighbours, enjoy a glass of wine and celebrate summer.”
The event takes place at Creemore Village Green and on Mill Street, a portion of which will be closed to vehicles to accommodate picnic tables and food vendors.
The Creemore Drumming Collective kicks off the celebration at 5 p.m. followed by an intro to line dancing with instructor Hope Bell Young at 6 p.m. and a performance by The Sadies on the Village Green stage at 7:30 p.m.
The Sadies are a Juno Award winning Canadian rock-country band from Toronto, made up of Travis Good, Sean Dean and Mike Belitsky. Dallas Good, a founding member, died in 2022. Dallas and Travis are the sons of Margaret and Bruce Good, and nephews of Brian and Larry Good, who are members of the Canadian country group The Good Brothers.
Throughout the evening there will be facepainting, a May pole dance, and the Creemore Horticultural Society will once again be making flower crowns.
There will be lots of entertainment, food options and a cash bar, which is a fundraiser for the BIA. The bar will be stocked with wine, beer, cider and a variety of cocktails. Attendees are welcome to bring a picnic and food vendors will be offering meals and desserts.
