Police made an arrest after an assault with a weapon at a cemetery on Poplar Sideroad Friday afternoon. The incident happened at the Collingwood Presbyterian Cemetery, located in Clearview Township, where several individuals were conducting some repair work to the property. At some point during this work, one party stabbed a co-worker with a knife and fled the scene into a wooded area nearby.

OPP officers from Collingwood and The Blue Mountains, with the assistance of Huronia West OPP, arrived on scene and set up containment. About an hour later, the assailant was arrested with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Canine and OPP Aviation Services. The victim was sent to hospital with minor non-life- threatening injuries.

As a result, OPP have now charged 33-year-old Robert Jordan Sample, of The Blue Mountains, with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of escape lawful custody. The accused was held for a bail hearing on Saturday and will have future court dates at the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood.
