My Friend’s House expands fundraising campaign, facing funding shortfall
An annual fundraising event for My Friend’s House, The Red Shoe Walk, is evolving into a community-focused month-long fundraising campaign in September called Paint the Town Red.
Paint the Town Red is a well-known expression for going out to have a great time and My Friend’s House encourages community members to do just that by hosting their own fundraiser and directing proceeds to My Friend’s House to help bridge a more than $800,000 core funding gap this year.
The campaign is expanding to all communities that the women’s shelter serves and supporters are encouraged to participate by hosting their own pop- up fundraiser.
Organizers are encouraged to be creative on how funds will be raised at their event, share widely with their own networks. Participants can register events with Ciara O’Connell, events and community relations manager at My Friend’s House, by emailing her at ciara@myfriendshouse.ca. A customized donation link can be set up for each event, making donation collection very easy and sharable online.
