Creemore Springs comes on as Coyotes sponsor
The Coyotes welcomed Creemore Springs Brewery as a new sponsor and exclusive beer supplier last Friday.
“It’s been three years waiting for this day, and it’s all thanks to Freddy,” said Tom Macham, founder and general manager of Creemore’s senior “AA” hockey team.
The team’s assistant general manager Fred Mills brokered the deal with Creemore Springs Brewery, where he works, for title beer sponsorship, meaning that the locally brewed beer will be sold in the Coyotes’ booster club, which can be consumed in the fully licensed arena. Although the beer is not discounted, there is an undisclosed financial component to the sponsorship.
“I’m really happy to see this come to fruition,” said Mills. “It’s really exciting.”
Creemore Springs Brewery market development manager Drew Main said the brewery will also be supporting the team through its marketing department.
“Fred has been talking to us about this for a couple of years and we found a way to make it happen,” said Main. “We are thrilled to help another part of our community, something that people are really passionate about.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, which begins this month, Macham said he has big plans to engage fans. There will be live music in the booster club, more give-a-ways and activities between periods, and live streaming opportunities.
The Coyotes are hosting four on- ice open try-out and training sessions Sept. 14, 15, 21 and 22 at Wasaga Stars Arena.
Macham is looking for six or seven new young players with the goal to lower the team’s average age from 28 to 27.
This month, Macham is working to get all players signed and is looking ahead to the first game against the Thornbury Apple Kings on Oct. 12.
Meanwhile, Laura Macham is currently hustling to get all the coaching and support staff certified, including a new trainer, Rob Magloughlen, formerly a trainer for the Allison Hornets, who brings his expertise as a firefighter.
The team also welcomes Colin Bryant as the new equipment manager, allowing Mills to step fully into the role of assistant general manager.
The Ontario Elite Hockey League (OEHL), to which the Coyotes belong, announced this year that member clubs are now eligible to compete for Canada’s national senior hockey championship, the prestigious Allan Cup. If the OEHL champion advances to the Allan Cup, the club will be permitted to add five players from other OEHL teams to bolster their roster for the Allan Cup.
There are many volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available with the Coyotes. To get in touch, contact Tom Macham at creemoreseniorhockey@ gmail.com or 705-435-8469. For tryout info visit creemorecoyotes.com.
