Creemore Legion resumes weekly euchre, darts
School is back, the Copper Kettle was another huge success and the cooler nights improve sleeping.
There’s a hint of colour in the trees, yet grass remains green thanks to an extended warm spell expected through the end of September.
The village is perceptively shifting activities to the usual fall and winter programs, and the Legion is no exception.
Euchre and darts begin their regular weekly events, while scouting and cadets have started up again.
This is the Cadet Corps’ 40th season affiliated with the Creemore/Stayner/New Lowell Legion branches whilst conducting their weekly exercises at the Creemore Branch. In celebration of this anniversary, a Mess Dinner is planned for December.
Other December events include The Night Before the Night Before, and The Community Christmas Dinner, while additional events are scheduled between now and then.
A major undertaking this year is the refurbishment and modernization of the Legion’s kitchen thanks to an Ontario Trillium grant. Preliminary work begins in December with completion expected by the end of March 2025.
Yet another project is the upgrade of the Legion’s audio-visual system thanks to a private grant arranged by Ellie Pattillo. This work includes a large screen and laser projector in the hall with additional TV screens for presentations, movies and other events such as sports nights and Celebrations of Life. More on this as the work progresses with completion due late fall.
Finally, your continued support of the Legion is crucial, since it’s the area’s largest community centre with a large hall (capacity 400), comfortable lounge (capacity 75), commercial kitchen and LLBO licensed bar. There is ample free parking.
To book an event, please call Laura Earles at 705-466-2462, and thank you for your support.
