The Township of Clearview has finalized financial support to the Stayner Siskins Junior “C” Hockey team

Council approved the $25,000 expenditure at Monday’s meeting. The township will provide $3,000 per season for a maximum of five years, totalling $15,000, in addition to a one- time payment of $10,000 to start.

“The agreement is considered a ‘special agreement’ as the Stayner Siskins have made a special request to pay the minor sports rate vs the prime rate they have historically paid, within our existing fees bylaw,” reported director of parks and recreation Terry Vachon. “As such, and still worth noting, if council wishes to support the Stayner Siskins’ request for financial assistance, the department recommends that the Siskins continue to pay the prime rate and that council consider paying the difference above (yearly total) in funding through economic development or community assistance for promotion and awareness year by year.”
