Fall Festival at Maple Grove Farm

Moms and dads may get excited by the fresh produce, baking and farm- to-table meals at Maple Grove Farm, but for the kids it’s all about the Fall Festival.

Since late September, the farm has been offering wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, pig and duck races and an awesome corn maze.

This year’s corn maze spans six and a half acres and incorporates images of two racing pigs running through a field. Marketing director Jenna Champagne explains, “It’s all done with GPS technology. We designed the maze back in May, then plugged the image file into the corn planter which laid it out on the ground. Last year’s maze was bigger at about 12 acres, but this one is definitely more challenging.”

Champagne says the maze attracts a great mix of people, both loyal local customers and people who happen to be driving by. Upon paying admission to the Fall Festival area, participants are given a map of the maze.

“It takes a good hour to get through. It’s been really hot this fall, so people are coming out looking like they’ve crossed a desert,” she laughs.

There is a smaller version of the maze for younger children and school trips that can be navigated in about 20 minutes.

Last year, more than 2,000 people toured the maze. So far this year, the number is about 800 with the busy Thanksgiving weekend still to come. The Fall Festival will wrap up with a special Halloween Boo Bash Oct. 26, and plans are already in the works for a Breakfast with Santa event in December.

Weekend admission to the Fall Festival is $17, with children under two admitted free. Weekdays the price is $8.

Maple Grove Farm is located on Airport Road in Mulmur, just north of Highway 89.
