Green Economy Hub Pilot launches first cohort
The Green Economy Hub Pilot has launched its first South Georgian Bay cohort.
This cohort consists of a group of eight forward-thinking businesses representing four of the six municipalities within the South Georgian Bay region, all united in their commitment to sustainability.
These businesses will become members of Green Economy Canada’s network, where they will receive guidance on measuring their carbon footprint, setting reduction targets, developing reduction strategies, and tracking their progress.
The Green Economy Hub Pilot aims to engage and support businesses in reducing their environmental impact, fostering innovation, and advancing sustainability within the region. The project is just the beginning of a broader initiative that is expected to grow through 2025; launching a second cohort of businesses and organizations in the spring of 2025.
The launch of the pilot is a significant milestone for the community, showcasing the power of collaboration and the potential of local businesses to lead the way in sustainable practices.
The pilot project is powered by a strong multi-sector partnership, bringing together expertise and resources from across the region. Team of partners include: The Institute of Southern Georgian Bay; South Georgian Bay Innovation Fund; Town of the Blue Mountains (TBM); Town of Collingwood; Wasaga Beach Climate Action Team; Climate Action Now Network (TBM); Clearview Sustainability Network; Meaford Climate Team; Grey Highlands Climate Action Group; and the CollingwoodClimate Action Team (lead charitable, local partner).
“We are deeply grateful to our funding supporters,” said officials. “Their contributions have been instrumental in making this project a reality.”
