Twenty-five community members were awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal Tuesday, recognizing outstanding contributions to the community, the region, and Canada at large.

Simcoe-Grey MP Terry Dowdall and Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson presented the medals to each recipient, acknowledging their dedication to improving the lives of others through volunteer work, leadership and community service.

“Each and every one of the recipients today have made significant and lifelong contributions to our region, and by extension, Ontario and Canada,” said Dowdall. “I am proud to recognize the dedication of these 25 eminent citizens to their community, to their fellow citizens, and to Canada with this once- in-a-lifetime achievement.”

The event concluded with a reception at the Nottawasaga Inn, where guests and honourees came together to celebrate the achievements of the recipients and reflect on their shared commitment to building a stronger, more connected community, region and country.

“Their contributions and credentials are only bettered by their character. Each person receiving a medal today went above and beyond to make our riding and country a better place,” said Saunderson. “It’s a privilege to take part in this ceremony, which I’m sure each deserving recipient will remember for the rest of their life.”
