Ferguson, Cecil Roy Percival
FERGUSON, Cecil Roy Percival – on April 25, 2025, with family by his side passed away after a brief stay at RVH.
On August 21, 1934, Roy and Ethel Ferguson of Glen Huron, Ontario, welcomed their fourth child Cecil. He married Bertha Hodgins, and they raised five children on their farm just outside Glen Huron. He also operated a family-owned sawmill on his parent’s farm. He thoroughly enjoyed singing and playing country, gospel and bluegrass music with many other musicians at various venues bringing joy not only to himself but also to those who came and listened. His appreciation of music brought him peace and contentment and will continue through his children and grandchildren who share his love of music and his talent. Cecil shared his welding skills with his son Robert and his uncanny ability to fix just about anything with his children, helping them develop a strong work ethic. Dad wore his heart on his sleeve and was easily recognized by his resounding, hearty laugh and his charismatic charm.
Predeceased by his parents, James Roy and Ethel Ferguson (nee German), siblings Nina, Bill, Russell, Winston and Jean and his common-law spouse of 11 years, Doreen Ashe. Survived by his siblings, Elsa and Jim, children, Wanda Ferguson (Manuel Saumon), Robert (Carleen), Teresa, Frances Tupy, and Jennifer Ferguson-Meijs (Tim Meijs) and their mother Bertha. He also leaves behind grandchildren Eddie and Tyler Tupy, Nicholas Meijs (his girlfriend Maya), Johnathan Giles, Kim Morby (Steve), Brian Ferguson (Taylor) and Christie Hurren (Tyler) and nine great grandchildren.
