Local news, worth holding on to
When faced with the option of a digital version or the print edition, we often hear from readers that they love to hold a physical copy of The Creemore Echo in their hands.
They tell us they enjoy sitting down and having the tactile experience of flipping the pages – catching up on the news, planning their weekend, rolling their eyes at Fred’s joke and beating their spouse to the crossword.
That sentiment has inspired this year’s subscription campaign, It’s worth holding on to.
The digital revolution has been nothing short of life-changing for all of us but in a world where screen upon screen upon screen vies for our attention, sitting down with an old-timey, small-town newspaper is a most welcome respite.
In the rapidly evolving Information Age, isn’t it nice to know that some things don’t change?
Before there were smartphones, when social media was a conversation on the street, when the cloud was nothing more than the threat of rain, there was The Echo.
The Creemore Echo is entering its 25th year of business and we have much to celebrate. We have outlasted AltaVista and Skype. And while other community newspapers have stopped producing a print edition and many national newspapers are shrinking in page counts, we have been surviving, and dare we say, thriving.
This is all thanks to our loyal readers and advertisers who see value in the product.
We have increased circulation and grown our readership. We are committed to maintaining a source of local news and information for this community.
In short, we are still here while others are not. The Echo has beaten the odds by simply existing.
As we enter our subscription drive we ask you to consider making a contribution so that we can continue our mission to tell local stories and connect people in the community through this accessible and equalizing platform, and contribute to a thriving business community.
As we ramp up to our 25th anniversary celebration on April 1, 2026, The Echo will be looking back at our history and engaging the community in some fun activities. We think its fair to say that The Echo’s success is very much worth celebrating, especially at a time when media is threatened on many fronts locally and globally.
Our success is due to the unwavering support of the community, and for that we thank you.
The Creemore Echo crew is continuing its tradition of attending the Creemore Farmers’ Market beginning on Saturday, May 17. The crew will be there to take subscriptions, available at various levels ranging from $60 to as much as people would like to contribute. All amounts are very much appreciated. Please stop by to say hello.
Subscriptions are also available at the office, open seven days a week, and online at creemore.com/shop.
