Trivia on the Green

When Creemore Village Green manager Jeremy Mantesso asked the question, what would be a fun activity to kick-off summer in the park? He was confident he knew the answer.

Because of a renovation project, The Duntroon Hall was forced to cancel their Know-It-All-Ball trivia event this spring. Knowing that people would be wanting their annual trivia fix, and with the organizers’ blessing, Mantesso decided to present a night of Trivia on the Green on May 23.

“It’s a fun night to test your general and local knowledge, but above all, it’s going to be a great way to start the summer,” said Mantesso. “It’s a great way to bring community together. It does everything that we strive to do with our programming.”

Those goals include supporting local businesses, driving tourism and enriching the community.

Promising a night of fun and laughter, participants are welcome to come as they are or dress up, decorate their tables and come up with a creative team name.

The Village Green will be furnished with picnic tables. Six people are allowed per table. Individual players can be matched up with others where space permits.

“Funds raised will be used to expand the Village Green’s dynamic family- friendly four-season programming and ensure that events stay free for everyone to attend, participate in and enjoy,” said Mantesso.

He said new programs include stargazing and Art in the Park in partnership with Mill Street Art Studio, along with the return of the Sundays in the Park concert series.

In this inaugural year, The Creemore Echo has teamed up with the Village Green to provide a bunch of questions specific to the community. As part of its 25th year celebrations, The Echo has taken inspiration from its news content and local history to create trivia questions not found anywhere else.

“We thought it would be fun to celebrate our uniqueness and reward the hometown advantage,” said Sara Hershoff, publisher of The Creemore Echo. “This is just one of the many things we’re hoping to do during the year to celebrate 25 years of service to the community.”

Cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m. Questions start at 7 p.m.

Creemore Springs Brewery will be on site with beer, Chin Chin will be serving wine, and the bar will be stocked with pre-mixed cocktails. Bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Picnics from local shops and restaurants are encouraged.

Tickets cost $10 per person, available at The Echo office and online at ticketscene. ca. Search trivia on the Green, or show up and find a seat. Rain or shine.
