NARA prepares for public meeting
The Nottawa Area Residents Association (NARA) is encouraging members of the community to attend a public meeting on May 28 to hear from Georgian Communities, the developer of the proposed 500-unit development, being called the Village of Nottawa.
NARA says this will provide the first opportunity to engage with council and the developer, giving the steering committee – representing more than 100 families who have registered as members – an opportunity to ask questions and identify concerns about the threat of declining water levels for existing Nottawa homes. NARA said it met with an independent hydrologist to get professional input on the key questions they should be asking the developer at the public meeting.
The development received draft plan approval in 2011 for 192 single detached dwellings, 278 condos and two mixed use blocks for commercial use and 30 residential units. The subdivision lands consist of 89.1 hectares and has frontage on County Road 124 and Blackburn Avenue.
The May 28 meeting will be held in council chambers in Stayner beginning at 5:30 p.m.
