Dodd, Kathryn Anne (née Simpson)
DODD, Kathryn Anne (née Simpson) – It is with profound sadness that we share news of the sudden passing of Kathryn Anne Dodd of Creemore, at her happy place, the family cottage on Bay Lake north of Huntsville, on June 1, 2025, in her 66th year. Kathy is “the cherished soul mate” of Peter Dodd for 41 years and the proud and devoted mother to Kimberley Fisher (Warren) and Colin Dodd (Jaclyn Buchberger) and adoring “Gammy” to Maisie, Oscar, Emerson and Truett. Predeceased by her parents Oscar and Mae Simpson and her beloved Grandmother Maggie. Kathy was born in 1959 at Collingwood General & Marine Hospital and raised in Creemore. Much like her mother and father, Kathy played an active role in countless community initiatives. She was proud of her ties to the village of Creemore. Devoted to her family and friends, Kathy is known and held dearly for her calm, reliable, honest and caring nature. Her passing will leave a void in the lives of the many she so deeply touched. Beloved sister-in-law to George (Lynne), Ron (the late JoAnne), Sharon (Mike), Victor (Mary), Marilyn (Stewart) and Angela (Russ). Kathy instantly became the recipient of a big, beautiful family upon marriage to Peter on June 2, 1984. She will be forever remembered affectionately by her many nieces, nephews and all family members as well as special lifelong friends who are like family. “You know who you are.” Peter, her special guy, caught her eye at the former Creemore Arena. Their blades clicked and the rest is history. Years later Peter and Kathy, with the help of their families, built their home on the same grounds as the arena where they met. This laid the foundation for a lifetime of memories for their children and now treasured grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 397, 27 Wellington St. W. Creemore, Ontario L0M 1G0 (705-466-2202). In lieu of flowers the family suggests your consideration of the charities listed that are special to the family or to the charity of your choice, in Kathy’s memory: Collingwood General & Marine Hospital; St. John’s United Church, Creemore; Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Orillia; Royal Canadian Legion, Creemore.
