Planning is underway for Canada Day. Clearview’s festivities will begin July 1 with a parade in Stayner, hosted by the Central Ontario ATV Club (COATV).

Everyone is welcome to watch the decorated floats and community partners parade on Highway 26, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The parade marshals at the Stayner Arena at 9 a.m. Anyone wishing to join the parade is asked to register by email to Rhonda Broderick at rhondabroderick@coatv.ca. The parade will travel south on Stayner Street to Point Street before hitting Highway 26 at Oak Street, ending at Station Park.

In the afternoon, activities shift to Creemore, where festivities including a three-on-three ball hockey tournament, bike parade and fireworks display will be hosted by the Creemore Firefighters Association.

The tournament is from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, players must register as a team by email atcreemoreffa@gmail.com. During the tournament, the Legion will be open for a barbecue.

Kids of all ages are invited to decorate their wheeled conveyances and join in the bike parade beginning from Mad River Park at the foot of Mill Street at 1 p.m. and ending at the arena.

In the evening, the band Hogback Road will be performing behind the arena beginning at 7:30 p.m., leading up to the fireworks display at dusk.

Firefighters are collecting donations to help cover the cost of the fireworks. There will be a boot drive in the evening. Donations are also welcome by e-transfer to the email address above, and cash and cheques can be dropped off at The Creemore Echo office.
