Creemore Cardinals battle hard in home opener thriller
by Julie Kaden
The U11 Creemore Cardinals hosted their home opener with a nail-biter of a game, falling just short in an 8-7 loss to the Angus Avengers. Despite the defeat, the game was packed with action, hustle, and promising moments.
Highlights included a flurry of stolen bases thanks to lightning-fast legs and quick decision-making. Harlen Barkovitz kept the crowd and players guessing with a daring dash between third and home in a tense rundown – his fast footwork secured a key run for the Cardinals.
On the mound, Creemore showed depth with solid pitching from three players – Max Milligan, August Amodeo, and Everett Kaden who took control in the fourth inning, striking out three batters and keeping the Avengers on their toes.
At the plate, Amodeo crushed a huge triple that energized the bench, followed by an RBI from Gage Kaden to bring him home.
For a lineup that includes and handful of first-time players, the Cardinals are already showing strong potential and heart. With plenty of season left for skill-building, teamwork, and memorable moments, this crew is just getting started.
