First annual Geoff Ayton Tennis Classic
The Creemore Tennis Club hosted the first annual Geoff Ayton Tennis Classic on Sunday, June 22, a competitive kickoff to the summer tennis season. Organized by members Peter Yan and Andrea Hubert, the new annual event honours past president Geoff Ayton for his years of dedicated service to the game, the club and the local community. Ayton was one of 16 top players at the club to compete in this doubles tournament, filled with aces, strong rallies and plenty of laughs. After more than a dozen games and multiple partner switches, the finals saw David Eisner and Dan Piggottface off against Ward Lansink and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Eisner—yes, a spouse showdown. Ultimately, top points were awarded to Lansink and Eisner (above) as the highest-scoring man and highest-scoring woman.
