Ogilvie, Glenn Merrill
Ogilvie, Glenn Merrill
Sept. 9, 1939 – July 18, 2025
It’s with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved father. Glenn Ogilvie passed away at his home, where he had lived for 66 years.
Glenn is survived by his long-time partner, Norma, and his daughters Sherri (Glen) and Glenna (Gene). He also leaves behind his extended family: Wilf (Susan) Friest, Vernon Friest (and the late Mary-lynn), Deborah (James) Grant, and Helen West. He was a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather, lovingly known as Poppa.
Glenn moved from Nova Scotia in 1956 to Creemore. He eventually went on to work for Vince’s Bakery as a delivery driver. From there, he went to work for Stan Nixon Motors until his retirement. His great passion for cars led him to be an exceptional car detailer. Glenn was always very artistic and creative. Being an accomplished sign painter allowed him to make extra income after hours. His hand-painted signs can still be seen at the Creemore Arena and the Creemore Meat Market.
He loved to share a joke and have a laugh. Another passion was to travel and see the world. His love of dogs led him to own a few and then, in later years, be a great dog-sitter.
Glenn was a very proud member of the Eastern Star, Mason of Nitetis Lodge Creemore, Scottish Rite, and Manito Shrine Club.
Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held at Creemore Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children would be appreciated. Friends may visit Glenn’s online Book of Memories at www.fawcettfuneralhomes.com
