The Township of Mulmur has received a $500,000 donation from Robert and Marnie Donaldson in support of the proposed upgrades and change room addition at the North Dufferin Community Centre (Honeywood Arena).

This significant contribution represents a major step forward in the community-led effort to secure the future of the arena, enhance accessibility and modernize this community space.

In 2024, after receiving more than 1,000 responses to a community survey, Mulmur Council made the decision to support the community’s overwhelming desire to keep the North Dufferin Community Centre operational with critical repairs to the roof, ice pad and coolant system.

Since that time, the community has worked to raise the funds necessary to complete additional improvements to the facility. The total cost of the future upgrades is estimated at approximately $4 million. To date, fundraising efforts have secured approximately $900,000, and the Township continues to actively pursue grant opportunities and additional funding sources with the goal of completing the project without relying on municipal tax dollars.

Robert and Marnie’s donation to the Honeywood Arena follows another significant contribution made by the Donaldson’s in 2025 for the development of a multi-use recreational court in the village of Terra Nova. Together, the Donaldson donations demonstrate their ongoing dedication to supporting community recreation and enhancing the quality of life in Mulmur, helping to ensure the Township remains a place where residents can live, work, and grow together.

“On behalf of Mulmur Council and the entire community, we extend our sincere gratitude to Robert and Marnie

Donaldson for their extraordinary generosity,” said Mayor Janet Horner. “Their commitment to preserving and enhancing this important community asset will have a lasting impact on residents, families, and visitors for years to come.”

The township extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the fundraising campaign to date. Every donation, whether large or small, brings the community one step closer to achieving its goal of revitalizing and enhancing the North Dufferin Community Centre.

Residents, businesses, and community partners are encouraged to continue supporting the campaign if they are able, as every dollar makes a meaningful difference in helping bring this important community project to life.
