Clarke, Gerald Arnold April 21, 1939 – Aug. 10, 2026. Gerald “Jerry” Clarke moved on from this world at the fine age of 87. He was lovingly reunited in the next world by the love of his life, his wife of over 56 years plus, Donna. Those left behind to grieve his passing include his three adoring children, Michelle (Bob) Clarke Ellison of St. Mary’s, Christine (Andy) Post of Mulmur and Glenn (Wendi) Clarke of Fernie, BC; the treasured Papa of Frances, Hannah, Sophia, CJ, Sierra and Logan, Alex and Caitlin; loving brother Doug (Margaret) Clarke of Nottawa, Ken Clarke of Wasaga, Norma (Glen) Lougheed of Collingwood, and Tony (Laurie) Clarke of Nottawa; brother-in-law of Ruth (Adrie) deLaat of Niagara-on-the-Lake; predeceased by Herman and Ruby Clarke, Yvonne Wright, Della Bennett, and Myrna Clarke.

Jerry was first and foremost a family man. Together he and Donna lovingly raised and taught their children about life. He worked hard to provide for his family as a working crane operator for over 30 years. He truly worked to help build the province of Ontario from the docks in Toronto, to the roads in Kapuskasing, and everywhere in between. Upon “retiring” from that profession, he then took up farming in the Flesherton area. There over the years, he and Donna raised chickens, sheep, pigs, and cattle on their 100-acre homestead.

Their home was a place of love and gatherings. Christmas, Easter, birthdays and other such holidays were warm family gatherings. Yet it was the frequent occasions when family gathered just because they could, that would always bring a smile to his face. Ever the family man, the family has fond memories of camping trips all over and from coast to coast. When the grandchildren arrived, they were instantly cherished and will always hold a special place in his heart.

He was a son and a brother, a husband and a father, a Papa, an uncle and a cousin. He was a friend and neighbour. He was well loved and he loved in return. He will be missed greatly and remembered fondly.

The family received friends on Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church - Dunedin until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Dunedin Union Cemetery. Fellowship and refreshments were shared following the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice.
