Councillor hosts town hall meeting Oct. 5

 In Opinion

There are a number of township initiatives that have been implemented or are about to be decided upon that have the potential to impact day to day living in our community.

Some of these initiatives have not had the same benefit of representative or meaningful public consultation that other more visible projects have had; this despite the statutory requirement of providing formal township public meetings.

It’s an unfortunate fact that not a lot of folks in Clearview come to council meetings to be informed. A town hall is a more informal, interactive opportunity to update interested residents on municipal goings on.

To that end, a Ward 5 town hall is planned for Thursday, Oct. 5 in Creemore to do just that.

Long planned new residential housing is ramping up in Clearview including in Creemore. Alliance Homes will begin initial water and waste water public works construction for their Hometown Creemore project this year. A new Clearview Strategic Plan has been developed. The annual Township 2018 Budget is being prepared.

Initiatives have been put in place or are pending to encourage cooperative community property improvements and new property standards will be enforced to maintain the level of existing property maintenance. These are just a few of the topics up for discussion.

To give you an opportunity to discuss these and other matters on your mind, you are invited to join me on Oct. 5, at the Station on the Green in Creemore from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Hope to see you there.
