Creemore Legion Canada Day celebrations postponed

 In Events

The Creemore Legion Branch and its members regret to announce the forced postponement of its annual Canada Day events, due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19.
Traditionally, the Legion organizes a Children’s Parade, events with prizes, hotdogs and other refreshments, and the evening fireworks display behind the arena.
These events require significant pre-planning and budgeting. The cost of the fireworks alone exceeds $10,000 and sponsorship funding is necessary.
The current local economy is not welcoming to the pursuit of local businesses and individual sponsorships. Further, there remains grave uncertainty regarding social distancing and food service, required for the safe conduct of the traditional Canada Day celebration.
It is hoped that, once restrictions and social measures are safely relaxed, an alternative celebration will be held.
At this stage however, we must all sit and wait.
Until then, The Legion wishes all of the community continued good health and healthy conduct.

Doug Mills is the public relations officer for the Creemore Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
