Creemore Pizza Co. takes over arena canteen

Clearview council has entered into an agreement with Creemore Pizza Co. to operate the canteen at the Creemore arena.
“Since the amalgamation of the new Clearview Minor Hockey and Creemore Minor hockey dissolving, the volunteers who used to manage the Creemore Community Center canteen have since retired,” reported Terry Vachon, General Manager Parks, Culture and Recreation. “The canteen has been vacant since March 2019.”
A deal was finalized at the Dec. 9 council meeting, to rent the canteen out for $300 per month.
Vachon said the department had gone out to the public looking for an interested food provider in June but no proposals were received, until Creemore Pizza Co. reached out in October.
Creemore Pizza Co owner Lori Judzinski said the canteen is open Wednesday to Sunday during minor hockey games and practices, Saturday morning during figure skating and Kidd Family Auctions and also during free public skating hosted by the Stayner Lions Club from noon until 1:50 p.m. on Sundays.
Arena patrons will find the fries are now fresh cut daily, and pizza, wings and deep fried pickles have been added to the regular menu.
“Continuing the tradition of past canteen operators which have all been run by local organizations, we will be donating a portion of the proceeds back into the community. I would like to share the proceeds amongst a few organizations choosing a different one each month until the end of the ice season in March,” said Judzinski.
“Stop in and say hi and warm up with a nice hot chocolate or coffee/tea knowing that your purchase will be helping out others in your community.”
