Event Details

Experience what Christmas looked, sounded and tasted like during the Victorian era at the Simcoe County Museum from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9.

The authentic Victorian Christmas event offers fun for the whole family. Outside, stroll along the lantern-lit pathways and explore decorated heritage buildings and warm up with a hot drink. Visitors can be transported through the snowbound forest on a horse-drawn wagon. Inside, enjoy a show on the antique Magic Lantern or join in with carollers in the 150-year-old church.

Browse one-of-a-kind gifts from local artisans, and make traditional crafts and treats to take home. Everywhere, you’ll hear the sounds of traditional Christmas music as you sample a Victorian Christmas, try some sweets and maybe see Father Christmas.

Admission is by donation. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Simcoe County Museum, a not-for-profit organization that supports the Museum through fundraising, volunteering and assistance with special events. Visitors are also encouraged to bring donations for the Barrie Food Bank and the Simcoe County Paramedics’ Christmas Toy Drive.
