Friends of Clearview EcoPark host Earth Day event

Friends of Clearview EcoPark are hosting an Earth Day event on Friday, April 22, a fun afternoon of free outdoor activities for the whole family.

Bring your own mug. There will be coffee, tea, apple cider, and refillable water stations.

Activities from noon to 6 p.m. include: Picket painting (art activity – pickets will go around the border of EcoPark community garden), park clean-up and recycling station, Herald the Library Dragon and his garden seed bombs (activity hosted by Stayner Library), scavenger hunt hosted by Free Spirit Tours, aquatic macroinvertebrate identification, Geocaches, and education walk through EcoPark with stations set up along the path and in the garden.

Scheduled activities, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., include: nature mobiles, bird houses, drum circle demonstration, Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA), and Hiking with the Viking Annette Sandberg of Niagara Escarpment.

Exhibitors include: Friends of EcoPark, Earth Revival, Pollinate Collingwood, Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA), Wasaga Beach Climate Action Team (WBCAT), Jesse Wright (community fish and habitat restoration project organizer), Eco Culture Conservancy of Canada, and more.

“We can’t wait to welcome you and open the 2022 spring season together,” say organizers. “Feel free to bring your dog and help us clean up the park.”

Vegan Co. Food truck will also be onsite from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Donations to our local food bank are welcome.

Earth Day is a global event, held annually on April 22 to remind us that we only have one Earth and it’s our job to make sure it stays clean and healthy. This year marks the holiday’s 52nd anniversary. For more information, go to earthday.ca.

Clearview EcoPark is home to over 200 bird species, plus native trees, plants and wildlife. Enjoy trails, birdwatching, and the Community Garden (designed by Fran Moore of Mod Design).
