Gillett, Marjorie Ruth (nee, Madill)

With a great a deal of sadness, our beloved Mom, Marjorie Ruth Gillett (nee, Madill) was admitted to Cold Lake Healthcare Centre, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022. She gently passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022 at age 90.

She now joins her loving husband, Ronald of 64 years (passed 2018). Recently, she was a resident of The Cold Lake Lodge for Seniors. She will be deeply missed by her children: Dawn Heather (Liviu, passed) Brian Joseph, (Phyllis, passed), David Stephen (Korea) Carolyn Belle (Allan) Grandchildren: Jenny-Lee, Jonathan, Michael, (passed) Jessica-Lynn, Chantelle (Shane) Wesly, Riley. Great-Grandchildren: Brooklyn, Karissa, Gabriel, Melikhi, Brody, Jaiden, Marley, Dominick… Many nieces and nephews. Close Friends: Jo and Jim Horbachewsky. Ruth was one of four children; James David (passed), Victor Delmas (passed, five days Old)Caroline Elizabeth, Ruth (predeceased parents) were: James Albert Madill and Caroline Lillian, Gladys Somerville.

Ruth was born in Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Ruth attended Glencairn Public School, Creemore Continuation High School, Alliston Banting Memorial High School, and Best Friend all through High School, Joan Westlake (nee Gilmore). Ruth married in 1954 to Ronald Sherman Gillett. Ron was an Airforce Photographer, and this gave them the opportunity to live in many different places. They started out married life in Trenton, Ont. Then Cold Lake Alberta, Ottawa, Quebec, North Bay, Germany 1967-1972, and then Cold Lake again for 50 years. While in Germany the family was able to travel and visit neighboring countries ie. Spain, Holland, Switzerland, France, and Italy. Ruth’s favorite pastimes: ceramics, sewing, painting with watercolours, and music sing-a-longs. Ruth and Ronald attended The Grand Centre Alliance. Church for a number of years. In later years, Ruth attended the Harbor Light Alliance Church in Cold Lake. Ruth will forever be in hearts of all she knew. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Pastor: Thomas Fehr. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
