Motorists, cyclists co-existing safely
Editor:
I have been a part-time resident and avid cyclist in the Creemore area for almost 20 years. I would like to state the case for not reducing speed limits on major roads in the area from a cyclist perspective.
My experience has been that local traffic has been very respectful of me as a cyclist, just as I have been respectful of them as motorists. We have co-existed safely on area roads – with existing speed limits – for many years.
Reducing speed limits will only result in increased motorist frustration; increased unsafe passing manoeuvres; and increased risk of accident for both motorists and cyclists.
Why fix what isn’t broken?
John Lewarne,
Creemore.
