Neighbours create lending library for community

 In Community

Marilyn Badger (left) and her neighbour Doris Parry have been doing a lot of reading and sharing of books this past year, so much so that they have built up quite a collection. Badger began to wonder what she was going to do with all these books and when she had the inspiration to set up a lending library at The Red Door Cottage, her home at 4 George St., she knew just who to ask.
Badger asked Doris’ husband Fred Parry if he could put his carpentry skills to work.
“I have a lot of ideas but no talent, but Fred has a lot of talent and a lot of equipment,” said Badger laughing.
The little library is available to everyone to take a book or leave a book. It is already stocked with a variety of material, including children’s books. The community is encouraged to take advantage of it whenever they wish.
