Overwhelmed with cats, Humane Society announces holiday adoption campaign

 In Community

The Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) is holding its Home for the Holidays campaign for the month of December, when adoption fees for all cats are reduced to $50.
The goal is to reduce the overwhelming number of cats in care and find them a home to call their own this holiday season.
There are currently more than 135 cats with the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, with over 100 available for adoption. With the large number of cats presently at the humane society, until some of the existing residents have been adopted, the organization is unable to intake anymore cats in need due to space shortages.
“With plunging temperatures, we receive dozens of calls daily of stray cats that need shelter. With so many cats at the GTHS, this holiday adoption campaign is an excellent opportunity to make space for cold and homeless cats while simultaneously matching deserving cats with loving homes,” said executive director Sonya Reichel. “We are so grateful to be part of a pet-loving community.”
For individuals interested in adopting a cat, here are the steps to take:
Visit the ‘Adoptables’ at gths.ca to follow the adoption process and schedule an interview.
The interview will take place at the GTHS Animal Centre, located at 549 Tenth Line in Collingwood.
