Summon best vote for best shared future

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
I am writing in response to Suzanne Wesetvik’s recent column which shared the idea of “co-voting” in order to consider the perspective and concerns of our youth within our voting choices.
Coming from a family with a bundle of nieces and nephews who are not yet voting age and some offspring of my own, the idea to vote with their concerns in mind makes the action of voting a more meaningful gesture. I suppose that in this sense, we voters become the elders caring for the next generations.
Given the topics being explored in this election, especially Climate Change (be that interpreted as global warming or the emergence of the next ice age) we might summon our best vote to make our best shared future. Having recently read Becoming Wise by Krista Tippett, the author invoked both “reverence” and “restraint” when considering how we should approach activities that impact the world in which we live. Both seem wonderful words to guide our actions and choices together.

Creemore.
