Time has come to give our big hearts a voice

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
I moved to Creemore many years ago to raise my young family.
I have always been very grateful for the good fortune I had ending up in such a beautiful town with such a big heart.
I think the time has come for us to give our big hearts a voice. Not a loud voice but a firm one.
It is time for us to share our kindness in ways that may have been uncomfortable in the past.
When we hear someone say something that is racist or generalizes anyone, we must ask the person not to speak that way in our presence. We must set healthy boundaries and kindly speak our truth when we had been quiet in the past.
Also, we are all responsible for the conditions in which our seniors live in our village.
We must come together as a community to ensure that our seniors, here in Creemore, have the care that they deserve and breathe clean air that has been tested appropriately.
We can send our politicians communications and require action. Our silence has come at a great cost it seems! Together, we can open minds and heal hearts.
Kristen Engel,
Creemore.
