Volunteers send out 56 Christmas dinners

 In Community

This year Creemore celebrated its 20thCommunity Christmas Dinner by offering a take-out traditional turkey dinner cooked at the Legion for pick-up or delivery. We provided 56 dinners (including one vegetarian meal).

Jim Henderson was our Chef Elf who worked with his team to provide a fantastic meal. The dinner was replete with turkey, turnip, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, and topped off with pie and Old Mill House pub brownies for dessert.

While last year’s dinner was cancelled due to the pandemic response, volunteers and contributors were quick to step up for this year. The dinner was organized using the experience of the Legion’s monthly take-out meals. (This month’s meal offering cabbage rolls is on Jan. 20 so get your orders in early!)

Another goal of our dinner is to ensure everyone has a little bit of Christmas, so we were happy to make a donation to the Clearview Stayner Food Bank as well as provide gifts to 12 Creedan Valley Care Community residents without family.

Thank you to all Santa’s Elves – our volunteers and contributors – as we could not provide this dinner without you. Special thanks to Foodland for donating all the turkeys.

Happy New Year to all and best wishes in 2022. Donna Baylis,
Creemore Community Christmas Dinner

coordinator.
