Wilkinson, Olive Louise (Davidson)

 In Obituaries

It is always difficult to say goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must now say goodbye to Olive Louise (Davidson) Wilkinson, who passed away February 3, 2021, at the age of 95. Born at Lavender, Ontario, on October 12, 1925, to parents Leslie and Alice Davidson, she later attended public school in the one room school house on the Eighth Line of Nottawasaga Township, and graduated from Creemore Continuation School. Olive married the boy down the road, Robert E. Wilkinson, in June 1944, and they farmed east of Lavender for 57 years, until Bert’s passing in 2001. They were inseparable through life in their farming activities and numerous trips throughout Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Great Britain. They are survived by three sons and their spouses; Lynn and Elaine, of Lavender, Perry and Heather, of Elmwood, and Steven and Sherri, of Stayner. Also grandsons; Evan (Robin) of Mulmur, Kyle of Kincardine, and Cory of Waterloo. Missed by Olive’s brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Audrey Davidson of Creemore. Olive was predeceased by a sister, Doreen (1927-29), and a brother, Ken (1922-98). After hip replacement in 2014, Olive moved to Blue Mountain Manor in Stayner. She suffered another hip operation in 2020, and then spent the last three weeks of her life at Bay Haven in Collingwood. Olive was a member of the Lavender Women’s Institute for many years and was a long-time member of the Creemore Horticultural Society. She was just as happy doing farm chores as she was at homemaking. She loved growing vegetables and flowers in her garden. She could milk cows by hand, load hay bales, fix fence, and then make supper for her family. Living through the Depression of the 1930’s gave her the ability to live a simple lifestyle. She mended many farm clothes to give them extended life. Olive also loved to quilt, and several family members were recipients of some of her creations. Olive will return to Lavender in the Spring, to be buried beside the love of her life, in Lavender Cemetery. She lived a long and very eventful life and will be gratefully and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
