“Women, Worth and Wellness” in support of United Way

 In Events

On November 2nd Nancy Griffin’s Women, Worth and Wellness initiative is partnering with United Way Simcoe Muskoka’s Women United program for the Women For Women: Finish the Year Strong! event. This 2-hour experience is open to the public; all are invited to be inspired, empowered, and motivated to use philanthropy to create social change, and help transform the lives of Simcoe Muskoka, women, girls, and their families.

“The pandemic disproportionately impacted women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals, which can have long-term and far-reaching consequences for gender equality in our communities,” says United Way Simcoe Muskoka Chief Executive and Philanthropy Officer, Brian Shelley. “In Canada, 10X more women than men have fallen out of the labour force since 2020 and women still earn just 76.8 cents for every dollar men make. The impact is even more significant when you consider the inequalities arising from intersecting factors such as race, culture, and economic status. For these reasons it’s important to re-launch the Women United program, so we are pleased that Nancy has invited us to participate in this event.”

The speaker series, food and wine pairing and live auction will take place in the heart of Creemore at Creemore Station on the Green. The tasting portion entitled “Taste of Creemore,” hosted by Creemore Hills Winery, will highlight local restaurants and feature fresh, local ingredients.

Keynote speaker Peggy Hill (above) of the Peggy Hill Group will share her rise from poverty to leading the #1 RE/MAX team in Canada, and discuss why she continues to give back. Paul Chapman of RBC Dominion Securities Inc. and United Way Simcoe Muskoka board member will speak about the importance of investing in your community and how to give in a tax-efficient manner. And finally, Dale Biddell, former Chief Executive and Philanthropy Officer of United Way Simcoe Muskoka, and founder of the local Women United movement, will speak about the program whose members are making a difference, advocating for change, and creating a brighter future for women, girls, and their families.

“This Women For Women event is in alignment with the focus of Women, Worth and Wellness, which is to inspire and inform women on ways that will enhance their personal health, wealth, net worth and self- worth through philanthropy,” says Nancy Griffin. “What a wonderful way to bring the community together to give back.”
