Siskins coach gets 8-game suspension at home opener

 In News, Sports

Stayner Siskins head coach Dave Steele lost his cool a week ago Thursday against Alliston Hornets.

The red-hot coach got an eight-game suspension for his temper. The team lost 5-1.

The game was a close match until the third period. Stayner only trailed 1-0 but Alliston filled the net with four third period goals to change the game’s mood.

After many penalties were called, a melee broke out near the game’s end.

Steele became enraged and was given a one-game suspension for abuse of an official. This only made him hotter and he muttered some remarks, which cost him seven games.

Lucas Jeffery scored Stayner’s only goal.

On Sunday, with Siskins general manager Richard Gauthier behind the bench, Stayner beat Caledon 6-4.

Caledon led 2-1 after two periods, only Sean Healy could beat the Golden Hawks goaltender Andrew Ireland on a power play.

The third period was a different story. Healy got his second goal, Austin Fischer added two, and Ben Skuce netted the winner with a little over three minutes remaining in the game.

Caledon made the game interesting with a power play marker at 19:02; J.D. Falcon put the game out of reach with an empty netter.

Stayner played Caledon again last night and are in Huntsville tonight.

Midland comes to town Thursday.
