Send students on trash collection mission

 In Letters, Opinion

Editor:
Earth Day happened last week and it passed without much notice.
The Earth is still here but it does need our attention.
The amount of garbage along our roadsides is sickening. It is hard to believe that a large number of people feel they have the right to litter our countryside. Full bags of garbage, empty coffee cups, beer bottles, cans, fast food bags, plus, plus, plus!
This coming week, choose a day for picking up what has accumulated over winter. This is in hope of discouraging others, (and perhaps ourselves,) not to litter!
The snow is gone and the grass hasn’t grown enough to hamper easy pick up.
We are all “better together.”
If every household devotes an hour it will make a big difference.
In these difficult times with self distancing, what better outing for a family than to gather litter? Great outdoor homeschooling and lessons in protecting the environment.
Let’s get some exercise and build on our community pride by helping.
