Lower speeds will have negative spin-off
Editor:
Clearview council is proposing lower speed limits on Fairgrounds Road and Concession 6.
If they are successful in doing this, they will add 25 per cent longer travel times to and from Creemore to Collingwood.
They will have ignored local businesses that are opposed to these changes that use these roads to transport goods and services to tax paying customers. These businesses will have no choice but to raise their prices to compensate for these inconveniences.
They will also make the school bus ride 25 per cent longer for kids who live on these roads.
Council is elected to serve the needs of many not the wants of a few.
To prevent the speed limits on Concession 6 and Fairgrounds Road from bring lowered from 80 km/h to 60 km/h, call or email your councillor and let them know how the majority actually feel.
PS. County councillors may need to hear your opinion about the 50km/h extension on County Road 91 east of Duntroon and the proposed 60km/h speed limit change on County Rd. 9 between Maple Valley and Cashtown.
