Road priority is vehicular
Editor:
Recently the township has discussed and recently “supported” speed limit reductions on a number of township and county roads.
It is evident that this support is based largely on the politicking of the bicycle lobby.
Council needs to remember and keep in mind that the roads in question were built for the purpose of the vehicular traffic of goods and persons and that recreational bicycle use should not be the rationale for any speed limit reduction.
It will be a gross inconvenience for farmers, truckers, ordinary motorists and others who need to use those roads every day to make their deliveries and go to work or shopping should the changes contemplated be enacted.
The recent lowering of the speed limit on County Road 91 east of Duntroon is completely without merit especially now that there is no longer a school in the vicinity.
That area now is little more than a honeytrap for apathetic OPP officers.
