Clearview hosts 3-on-3 youth hockey tourney

Registration is open for Clearview’s first ever three-on-three Spring Fever Youth Hockey Tournament April 1-3 at arenas in Creemore and Stayner.

Originally scheduled in April of 2020 and cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Clearview’s parks, culture and recreation department staff is thrilled to see this Spring Fever tournament finally take to the ice. There will be six divisions in total, open for youth ages under nine to under 14. Teams will be made up of a minimum of seven and a maximum of 10 players per team, including the goaltender.

“What a terrific opportunity for young hockey players to show us their skills in the inaugural three-on- three tournament,” said Mayor Doug Measures. “Clearview Township has a long heritage of great hockey, and our facilities are in great shape to host this event. We welcome players and fans from across Ontario to Clearview Township”.

The tournament guarantees four games and promises $5,000 in prizes, trophies and draws, and a great opportunity to play fast-paced hockey with your peers. Admission to watch the tournament will be free all weekend long.

“We are extremely excited to finally host our first ever three-on-three youth hockey tournament. We’re hoping to attract a maximum of 56 teams for the three-day event. All registered participants will be entered into a complimentary draw for 16 authentic NHL jerseys, and we will have an incredible prize table including trophies for game, tournament, finals, and mostvaluable players. All finalists will receive an impressive four-inch medal,” said Terry Vachon, general manager of parks, culture and recreation.

Registration is on a first-come, first- paid basis with a maximum of six teams per division.

Register a team for $550 before registration closes on March 22.

All funds will be going towards recreation programming in Clearview Township.
