When science meets science fiction
Editor:
At the risk of engaging in shameless self- promotion, I couldn’t help but notice that Gary Boyle’s Feb. 15 article “We Dodged a Solar Bullet” describes the exact premise my trilogy of novels When Everything Falls Apart is based on!
As a further bonus, much of the trilogy is set just to the south of Creemore, with Book Two serving as a veritable manual on how to work together as a community to survive a collapse of the power grid. My website www.wheneverythingfallsapart. ca has a tonne of additional resources on everything from the Carrington Event and the Quebec outage of 1989 mentioned in the article, to how to set up an impromptu abattoir or make chokecherry syrup.
As always, hope for the best, prepare for the worst, take care of your neighbours, focus on what matters.
Simon Heath, Creemore.
